A Firm That Works for You
Our goal is to establish trust and maintain a successful long-term relationship with our clients. We are proud to report that more than ninety percent (90%) of our clients have been with our firm for over 10 years. We achieve this by making your goals our priority.
A Personal Approach
Whether you are working with one of our investment professionals or experienced staff at our office, ISG cares about its clients. Twenty years ago the leadership at ISG saw an industry trend turning away from personalized service and toward automated voice response systems. It was ISG’s decision to go against that trend and continue with true, personalized service for its clients. ISG remains committed to that idea today. Our representatives meet with clients one-on-one and take the time to listen and adjust strategies accordingly. Our knowledgeable office staff strives to provide helpful and efficient service and are happy to assist our clients in any way possible with the same personal attention.
We take great pride in the success we have had helping clients to do something that can be difficult – saving and investing money for retirement. We encourage our clients to think of their retirement years as possibly the most important phase of their “financial life”. Our belief is that the job does not end at retirement; in addition to an “accumulation” phase there is also a “distribution” phase. We consider it the highest of compliments when clients choose us for the final leg of their retirement plans. As with all aspects of our practice we emphasize education and personal service. We spend a great deal of time and effort making certain we are providing appropriate investments that allow us to keep pace with the changing landscape of retirement planning and investing.
An Independent Firm
We understand that each of our client’s goals and objectives are unique. We are proud of the fact that we are an independent firm and are not forced to rely on a limited product selection. This objectivity allows us to individualize our planning based on what will best fit our client’s needs.
It appeared to be easy making money in the 1980’s and 1990’s as an investor. Stocks, bonds, and real estate increased in value and downturns were short lived. Since 1999, however, things have been much different. Gains in investments in the last 10 years, unlike the previous 20 years, have been rare. A number of economic and non-economic events have contributed to this change. The overwhelming lesson learned has been the need to be diversified. 10 years ago, diversification was an allocation between stocks and bonds. Today it has taken on a new and expanded identity for the average investor.
True diversification today goes beyond a simple allocation between stocks, bonds and cash. Stock allocations include different styles, growth and value, different size companies, large, mid and small. Stock diversification also goes beyond the U.S. boarders, recognizing the many successful companies and opportunities that exist internationally.
More recently, an additional level of diversification has evolved. Although utilized by pension and endowment funds for many years, “alternative investments” were seldom utilized by average investors. Today more and more individual investors recognize the advantage and additional diversification gained by adding non-correlated "alternative investments” to their portfolios.
While certain long-term "buy and hold" strategies implemented in the past have been successful, we have begun to question the effectiveness of some of those strategies. We believe that certain portions of some portfolios may benefit from management strategies based on shorter term outlooks.
